This 10-hour summer professional learning session is designed for new ESOL teachers seeking a strong foundation in supporting multilingual learners. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of second language acquisition, the role of cultural and linguistic diversity in the classroom, and strategies for fostering academic success. Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative planning, educators will explore essential instructional strategies such as scaffolding, sheltered instruction, and integrating content and language objectives. Additionally, participants will learn how to assess and monitor language development, differentiate instruction to meet varying proficiency levels, and create an inclusive classroom environment that values students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds. By the end of the session, teachers will leave with practical tools, research-based strategies, and a confident approach to supporting English learners in their classrooms.
