2024 Summer PL: Supporting ELLs in Academic Writing

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to: • build shared understanding of content so students are equipped to write knowledgeably • use mentor texts to identify explore the purposes, organizational structures and language features of specific genres • jointly construct a text with students based on what was learned from various mentor texts • support students as they apply their learning to their independent writing • engage students in drafting, reviewing, and revising to increase the effectiveness of their writing.
